Here's that Luck o' the Irish green dresser that I showed you on Facebook and on the video in the last post.
I added vintage wallpaper to line the drawers. This wallpaper is like the loaves & fishes - I've used it in so many projects and there seems to be an unending supply.
Here it is in the store:
I showed you a few of these finds on Facebook, too. Here are all of your fabulous ideas on how you would use that metal cabinet in your home.
My mom never thought it would happen, but I've finally been saved: I found Jesus at a mud sale in Lancaster County, PA!
(I'm totally going to keep retelling the "I-found-Jesus" joke. And if you try to stop me, I will cut you.)
Ever since Sue told me how well her religious goods sell, I've had my eye out for old statues. And I want to go to heaven in a handbasket for once.
For those of you who don't know, mud sales are fund-raising auctions that take place at fire houses in the spring. There are usually several auctions going on at one time. The one I went to, Honey Brook, had five auctions in one huge building and then a few more in the other attached buildings and outside. They are typically run by Amish people. I wanted to take a video of the auction action without offending any of the Amish (they prefer not to be photographed). In this sneaky video, I was sitting in the Antiques section, and there were two auctions on either side of me: Groceries and Household Furniture. The Groceries auction completely freaked me out. While my auctioneer was selling a possum belly baker's cupboard, the guy next to us was holding up a box of Grape Nut Flakes. It was surreal.

Do you have mud sales in your area? I don't know if they are unique to Lancaster County.
I found this at a different antiques auction in Honey Brook, PA. It is a magic lantern projector:
When you add oil, light the wick, and dim your lamps, the image on the glass slides appear on a wall. In the Victorian era, the operator would tell stories along with each slide.
Honestly, I had no idea what it was when I bid on it. I hadn't even opened the little door on the side. I only knew that I loved the twenty glass slides that it came with.
