You know by now that I am map & globe crazy. In fact, I just hung this world map over our bed:
Go ahead - let's hear all of the sick jokes about Chris "rockin' my world" and whatnot. This is a post about holiday gifts, you perverts.
Globes and maps are a great gift for kids, travelers, hipsters, teachers, vintage-collectors and pretty much anyone who lives on earth. I thought it would be fun to share a few of the not-so-typical globes and maps that I've seen around the interwebs.
1. YOUniverse Travel D.I.Y. Globe Art Kit
Buy an inexpensive non-descript globe at a yard sale or thrift store, and then add your own photos and these fun transfers to show off all of the places you've been, or plan to visit. What a great idea!
There is also a genealogy-themed set, so you can re-trace your ancestors steps around the globe.
Look at those colors! I love this print by JPressDesigns on Etsy, and it is only $20.
This lamp makes me think of a boa constrictor eating the earth. It's odd, but I love it. There are a few of these on Etsy, but this one from seller Melindaf is the best deal at $45.
4. Custom Map Prints by VassiSlavova
These vintage-style map prints can be customized with a little flag. Call out your birthplace, or your current city or maybe the place where you met your significant other. There is a wide variety of lovely colors that you can choose from.
I like the aqua and orange the best, since those are the colors in my kids' play room. And its always nice to see other places besides the United States: Canada, Singapore, London, Europe and France...

Love globes too! Great gift ideas. You rock my world!!! But not in a sick perverted way!

Wow! Colour me impressed, that must have been such a trlhil! It's such a great idea, it's lovely to see innovation being rewarded in this way. (And I don't mind the name-dropping smugness I wouldn't be able to resist either ;p)
