A pretty souvenir plate make inexpensive, yet personal, gift. Especially when covered with brownies, homemade cookies or rum balls.
I have so many vintage souvenir plates and I've never paid more than a buck for any of them. My goal is to only buy plates from the states, cities and famous landmarks that I have visited. Here's my home state:
But then, too often, I end up buying plates from places that I've never been. This Wyoming plate is especially nice...it is black transferware with painted highlights. It's a bit older then most of the plates I usually see. It would make a great gift for a Wyominger. Or is it a Wyomingian?
If you know someone who loves vintage and loves to cruise the Caribbean, this would make a lovely gift: (check out the sea horses along the border)
Of course, since I live close to Dutch Country, I'm keeping this one for myself. It reminds me of my husband Chris, since he gets me all "ferhuddled". Sorry - didn't mean to turn this into an x-rated post.
P.S. I did end up getting more than Legos for my birthday yesterday...a white gold and diamond necklace in the shape of a clover. Thanks, Chris. You don't have to sleep in the dark part of the basement, after all.

I have a similar rule about souvenir plates as far only having them from places I've lived (which means I don't have very many)although I've fallen off the wagon several times so maybe it's not a rule so much as a very loose guideline.
Please keep yer ferhuddling to yerself. Happy Birthday!

I'm from NJ originally, so I always pick up things that say NJ. I even have a NJ Turnpike plate that I got here in Texas. And I have a NJ ashtray that goes very nicely with your plate. Could be a matching set. I do have a NJ plate, but your plate is nicer. I'm always surprised that I find so many NJ things here.

I do check for these each time I head to resale shops. I particularly love state trays, and they make the perfect hostess gift.

My mother has an ungodly amount of souvenir plates "gracing" her walls in every room. I would derive great pleasure in surreptitiously removing them to give away with rumballs.......

Love the plates! And happy b-day! You snagged a great gift(thoughtful hubby) too. I have to provide detailed lists to the hubs or it's the return department for me!
