The Skyy Lime Light is so 2008. Get over it, for god's sake.
The weather in Pennsylvania is perfect for introducing my new favorite fair-weather drink: Sweet Tea Vodka with Lemonade:
I made it with a generous shot of Jeremiah Weed (?!) Sweet Tea Flavored Vodka, Minute Maid Light Lemonade and lots of ice. If I had some lemons in the house, I'd probably use those instead of lemonade. Or maybe not. I'm really lazy.
There are a few other Sweet Tea vodkas on the market, like Firefly and Sweet Carolina (which also comes in other tea flavors like mint, raspberry and peach), but I haven't tried those yet.
What shall we call this drink? Or does it already exist, and I am completely out of the loop?
Oh - and don't forget your bug-cover (also known as a cupcake liner). Don't want any nasty bugs trying to drink your cocktail.

This looks really good! I'll have to look for that vodka. Don't worry about the bugs, they don't drink much. :) hehe..

You know...I can't decide which is more awesome...that drink or the glass it is in!
I've never seen sweet tea vodka! This may replace Boat Drinks (Captain & ginger ale) as my new favorite summer beverage.

This sounds like a Long Island Iced Tea..... MMMM...

YUM..yup thats sounds like a definite try..if it ever warms up here!
Posted by: sue@solsticehome | April 18, 2009 at 12:16 AM
I think that's a Long Island iced tea...and they are delicious! I haven't hd one in about 15 years...perhaps it's time to change that.

Hey there! I'm a bartender at a restaurant and we serve a martini using sweet tea vodka. I love the stuff. We just call it a sweet tea-tini which is totally not creative or anything. There's also a lemonade vodka or two out there if you wanted to give it an extra kick on the alcoholic side :) We use the two together to make "Arnold Palmer fell off the Wagon".
Don't try Firefly if you don't have to- it's really not that great. Also to the other posters be careful because a Long Island is really rum, vodka, tequila, triple sec, sour mix and coke. So don't go out and order one expecting a refreshing sweet tea vodka and lemonade mix!

That sounds yummy and maybe not as dangerous as a Long Island Iced Tea. I think I'll send my hubs out for supplies!
Posted by: Pam | April 18, 2009 at 01:52 PM
After two or three of those, it wouldn't matter what you call it!!
Looks like a refreshing one - will give it a try (if I can find that vodka).

I'm a native South Carolinian, and we get all our panties in a wad when we see people drinking stuff other than Firefly, which is the original stuff, and the only brewed with tea grown in the United States. They also have mint, lemon, and raspberry flavors, as well as muscadine vodka. They are all friggin' yummy. (They also give you funny stories about your grandmother at Thanksgiving thinking it's real sweet tea and pouring herself a biiiiig old glass of it straight. Then finishing it because she didn't want to waste it and passing out on the couch. heh)

Love the bug cover!

Will wonders never cease? I've never heard of sweet tea vodka. Being the two drinks and I'm sloshed drinker that I am. That's something I just might have to try.

I've never seen the Sweet Tea Vodka...How perfect for spring and summer drinks!
Love the bug cover idea, too. Clever!
Kimberly :)

Yummy, I'll have to give it a shot or a mugful. (:

Wow, I too have never heard of this vodka, but sure does sound like a great drink indeed. As for naming it, hmmm...I can't get past the large WEED in the center of the label. Maybe TEA-B-Gone, ya know, like WEED-B-GONE? I would just call the glass empty!
Posted by: Lisa | April 20, 2009 at 02:20 PM
love the glass and the fact that the lemonade is "light".
Posted by: maria | April 20, 2009 at 02:29 PM
YUM. Need this NOW!
Posted by: mary | April 20, 2009 at 02:43 PM
I keep thinking it's like an Arnold Palmer, but more amped up ... hmmm ... Arnold ... who else is an Arnold ......
I know. Call it THE TERMINATOR!
Posted by: Jenny | April 20, 2009 at 05:53 PM
sounds delicious. know what else is good? vodka with blood orange soda, you can get it at trader joe's or genuardi's.

Sorry to say the thrifty side of me won the debate between Sweet Carolina ($16+) and Jeremiah Weed ($20+). Guess it has been decades since I bought vodka!
No matter-the concoction was absolutely delicious and refreshing and I think I like vodka now-at least this kind.
Thank you for the heads up on a wonderful summer beverage-now for a wonderful summer!

You just have to try this one...we call them Pink Pinetrees
Gin and pink lemonade (minute maid is the one we use) with lots of crushed ice. So good on a hot day!
Posted by: betty | April 22, 2009 at 11:47 PM
I'm not the sweet tea drinker at my house...but the hubs LOVES the stuff! I bought him a bottle of Firefly, and, as you suggested, mixed it with lemonade, sliced lemons and lots of ice. It's his new favorite drink! Thanks for the info. We'd never heard of sweet tea vodka.
Posted by: Cheryl | April 24, 2009 at 09:31 AM
The Firefly brand is really good, but I am diggin' the Jeremiah Weed! The name is too funny! I've heard of mixing it with lemonade but usually just opt for ice and water. I don't think there's a name for this yet! I just call it KICKIN' Sweet Tea. Claire's story is too funny about grandma!

I feel totally out of the loop because I didn't even know there was such a thing. I'm going to the store today to find it! We are hosting a Kentucky Derby Party next weekend and this will be PERFECT!!! Thank you!

Yum! What a good idea -- looks like this summer will hold a few fun parties!

It is called a Palmetto. They are very popular in Myrtle Beach.

I've been trying for a week to find Sweet Tea Vodka, but being in the middle of BFE Wyoming, I am out of luck! I keep getting told to check back in a month! Any chance you could ship some to me in a Scope bottle? LOL! Love your blog and good for you going to Chicago "because you can"!
Posted by: Anna | April 30, 2009 at 02:57 PM
I've heard many refer to it as a John Daly, a twist on the traditional Arnold Palmer.
Posted by: jojo | May 04, 2009 at 06:27 PM
Oh, that's not a lampshade on the little party-drink's head? ;)
Posted by: Crystal | May 05, 2009 at 05:51 PM
The name for this drink is the "John Daily" an alcoholic Arnold Palmer (which is generally an Iced Tea with Lemonade). This is made with Sweet Tea vodka and lemonade...and is truly delicious
Posted by: Pete | May 20, 2009 at 11:57 PM
I live in Omaha, NE.
We call it a "John Daly," up here!
I personally think that the "Sweet Carolina" is easily the best.
Lots smoother.
Firefly is definitely a close 2nd.

FireFly Sweet Tea is the original Sweet Tea and it is by far the best. Anything else is a cheap knock-off, wanna-be brand. Real Tea and Real Sugar! The drink above is called a 'Daily Palmer.'
Posted by: Mr. Gus | June 04, 2009 at 02:30 PM
We call this drink a Delta Martini in Mississippi! It's great!
Posted by: Landon Wallis | June 09, 2009 at 09:02 PM
Jeramiah Weed has a drink called half and half. It's sweet tea vodka allready mixed with lemonade. No work necassary. There is also seagrams sweet tea, burnetts sweet tea, firefly sweet tea, carolins sweet tea, and of course jeramiah sweet tea.
Posted by: Molly | June 20, 2009 at 10:51 AM
It's called a John Daley. He is a golfer, like Arnold Palmer. Except Daley is a raging alcoholic!!
Posted by: Jessica | June 20, 2009 at 03:31 PM
Was given this for fathers day. All I can say is WOW. What a GREAT drink.
