What the Hell Is It? (with PRIZES!)
So, I still don't know what the hell this is. Everyone seems so convinced that their answer is the right one, I don't know who to believe! Some of you should be running for president.
Well, guess what? We're playing again and I know the answer this time.
This thing is seven inches in diameter, and it has a very specific use. That's all I'm going to say. And the first person who leaves a comment with the very specific answer will win an unprecedented, never-before-seen-on-any-blog prize. A prize so exciting that even the losers will be excited for the winner. I know - it doesn't seem humanly possible. But it is true....I have a heart of stone, and even I would be excited for the winner.
And guess what? The person who has the wackiest guess will also win a prize! You could be totally wrong, but if you have a funny answer, you're getting the same exciting prize.
Start guessing! I want to hear from all of you lurkers, too. Even if you have NO IDEA what it is, just give it a try. The first person with the most specific correct answer will win a prize. And the wackiest answer will win a prize. I'll leave the comments open until Sunday night at 8pm EST.
PS. Let's put things into perspective...the prize is not a new car or a timeshare in Cabo. For Christ's sake, you're reading a blog written by a crazy lady who buys stuff for a quarter at yard sales! But it is still a fun prize.

can we guess more than once?
hm...how about a cooking thing used for camping? it fits into some other thing that holds it over a fire.

It's either a frittata pan or a place to keep your pot. No pun intended. Face it, your kids are never going to go look in the cupboard where you keep your cooking implements. Hence, the perfect place to hide your illicit botanicals.

I bet it's used to keep your peter heater in during the off season.
I have no clue what it is but,I love reading your blog. I stumbled upon through another blog and have been addicted to it.

Oh OH it's for potatoes, but like sliced up and with cheese? Okay the cheese part is a guess, but I think it's for potatoes, but now it looks too small so maybe eggs. Hmm that's too many guesses, but anyway love your blog! Vintage stuff rocks!

It's a very old fashioned lipstick pot???? It's precious anyway whatever it is.

I would guess a pudding mold (those steamed pudding things), but it doesn't have clamps. And it isn't very decorative.
So, I suppose I have no clue. LOL
Certainly if we owned it it would be a "what can I put in this and bang it around and drive my mother crazy?" thing.

I know what it is.... without a doubt.... it is an organ donation pot... specifically for a heart!... Gory?... Perhaps! But it is Valentines day and I love anyone who gives me their heart today.... ;o)

Is it an omelet maker?
Posted by: Cassandra | February 14, 2008 at 04:22 PM
or a pop corn popper?

This one is easy, it's a xray proof container for dvd's and cd's.

Hi Colleen
I believe that is a pan to make a dish called Potatoes Anna...the lid doubles as a serving dish. There is a picture of one in my very old Joy of Cooking. I hope to be the supreme overall winner!

It's a condom case for that VERY SPECIAL giant living up your local bean stock. So to speak.

I'm going with a goofy guess. A Chamber Pot??
Posted by: Kim Campbell | February 14, 2008 at 07:06 PM
Well I'm thinking the potato's anna pan, but it also has those cute Charlotte mold handles, so I'm thinking it could be freaking anything. Like two random lids you're tricking us with.
What ever it is, you'll make it hilarious!(and inappropropriate!)

The entry for the grandfathers toe nail container...I can't even top that if I tried! Love the fact you are a crazy lady who buys stuff at yard sales for a quarter...I get a thrill when I do the same.

Is it a tiffin box? One of the sections from the stack anyway?
Posted by: Jenn | February 14, 2008 at 10:17 PM
Ok..LOOOVE your blog! My guess is that it is to hold shoe polish in for the old time shoe shiners.

A very secure, very proper, Victorian era diaphragm case?
But, of course! All discreet ladies owned one!

Love your blog. I'd like to think that it's an upside down (as in pineapple etc.) cake pan, but it's probably something along the lines of a cremation urn.
Can't wait to read what it REALLY is. ;)
