Green, Graters and Glass Knobs

Wow - I can't believe all of the responses I received from my latest "What the Hell Is It?" game! I had the same ideas that most of you had: a fireplace cover, the top of a garden trellis, or the cover for a window well. I still don't know for sure, so if you have any more suggestions, feel free to leave a comment on that post.

Here are a few more things that I bought this week. I spent twenty dollars on all of these thrift store goodies:

The Vornado Jr. fan, Mayfair candy tin, Fire King jadite swirl mixing bowl, green Haeger pitcher, two enamel covered refrigerator dishes, a set of small green trays...

All

...a metal paper organizer and five old metal graters. Those graters aren't worth a lot, but they would look great hanging on a wall. Or maybe dangling as a crib mobile in a vintage-style baby's room?

Graters

Oh, calm down...you could take it down when the baby starts to pull himself up. Anyway, a couple of shredded fingers never killed anyone.

And here's a recent makeover that I did on a vanity table that I found at a rare winter yard sale a few weeks ago. It was pretty beat up and was missing a knob on its drawer.

I added a vintage glass knob. The same knobs that I had in my old kitchen.

You could throw a glass knob onto a pile of dog crap, and I would probably pay money for it.

Wow, that looks so Anthropologie/Pottery Barn! Great makeover!

The table looks awesome. Are you going to keep or sell? Another use for those metal graters could be for smacking your kid's rear end. Just joking sis!

You're killing me.

"Oh, calm down...you could take it down when the baby starts to pull himself up. Anyway, a couple of shredded fingers never killed anyone."

You're a freaking riot!!!! :) I love it.

You must have the most amazing thrift stores in your part of the country! No WAY would that stuff show up at any of mine. I'm jadeite green with envy. :)

Cool table makeover! I agree with you about the glass knobs--there's a desk at one of my thrifts right now with a glass knob. It's a piece of junk but that dang knob catches my eye every time I walk past it!

I don't think it's a fire place screen but a barrier to keep kids and pets away from the wood stove.

I thought I was the only one who loved glass knobs that much-glad to be in such good company!!

too funny

Terrific finds!

"You could throw a glass knob onto a pile of dog crap, and I would probably pay money for it." - hahahahaha - too funny! I love the table now though, great job!

You made me laugh in horror at your mobile idea! They'd only do that once. I like stopping by this blog, and I love your finds.

I think you have better thrift stores than we do.
I love what you found, and your table makeover looks great!!

You have found some great specials!! I have a few graters myself, they look great with a candle behind them! Didnt think to use them as a mobile, but with a light hanging in the middle of them, they could look pretty. And if baby does manage to reach them, they could 'feel the power' with the grated fingers!!
Love the table makeover!LOL

My goodness! You have a good GoodWill! Ours never has anything like that. Graters maybe, but that's about it.

Nice job on the dresser!

I have 2 of those vanities. One is white and one is black. I like the black one better. It looks classy. The glass knob decorates it like jewelry.

Connie

wow, it looks amazing! i love your fun finds!

I can't stop laughing about the glass knob/dog crap. I have an abundance of both, if you want to test your theory...

I am all for the grater mobile idea. So lateral - and yes as baby gets older - you could just make it higher and higher - perhaps it could eventually be a grater chandelier!

What fun treasures! Totally green with envy, pun totally intended! :)

Love what you did with the vanity table. What an incredible site you have.

My Mom is an antique collector extraordinaire, and a little bit of her passion has rubbed off on me as well. I am always looking for vintage Cobalt glass.

Enjoyed your blog again...love all your goodies...come on over and see my "little" goodies I just got. Laurie

Hi! It is nice to find another blogger who is into vintage finds...you see so many of the crafters on here.

Love your stuff!!! Where did you ever find all the things INCLUDING the Fire King bowl for 20 bucks?????
