Erin's Colorful Finds
One morning last week, I was on the phone with my sister Erin while she was on her way to work. Suddenly, she squealed, "Ohmigod! There is an old robin's egg blue door in the trash. Wait! There's a lady in front of the house. She sees me looking at it. Ohmigod, she just gave me the signal. I gotta go! She said I could take it!"
Did you notice that she immediately said "robin's egg blue"? A normal person would just have said blue or light blue. But we grew up with a mother who is a certified color analyst for Color Me Beautiful. We never used regular colors to describe things. Aubergine, luggage brown, salmon and chartreuse were part of my vocabulary in fourth grade. While all the other kids were coloring with red crayons, we were trying to determine if it was a warm red or a cool red. Does it have blue undertones? Even today, my mom still gives me the evil eye whenever I wear a color outside of my "spring" palette.
Erin got this apple green desk with pale yellow drawer pulls for five bucks:
Here's my favorite. This was a splurge, but worth it. We're bringing this to Renninger's, if anyone is interested!
Here are a few more of Erin's finds that totalled $28. She's debating about painting that chest. Don't worry - the chest isn't really old. I think she should paint it. You know how I feel about hearts.
That little book on the red chair is "The ABC of Cocktails". Did I ever mention that my husband works at a rehab? It's true. So ironic and so convenient all at the same time.

I love the yellow cart on wheels..I so wanted to fly up and go to Rennigers but I am trying to SELL my house...Rennigers is also in Mount Dora, FL which is driving distance for me....I will be going in November...but its not the same as PA....

Lucky duck on that too cute dresser and the free door!
I have to know how much for the yellow cart? I just got the same exact yellow cart yesterday at an estate sale for 2 bucks.

Love, Love, Love the blue door. Good luck at Reiniger's, I've never had the opportunity to attend, but come visit Texas at Round Top. It's just around the corner, in about two weeks.
Smiles,
Carol

On the apple green desk?... that should be "buttercream" handles, not pale yellow! I know, I'm hilarious.
Seriously, I love the piece of furniture with the pink doors. Come do an antiques show in Canada.I demand it!

I absolutely a-door robin's egg blue...hee, hee. I love colors & names of colors (I majored in art). I have a similar desk (chippy white) that the thrift store wanted me to take for $5. I didn't need one, but for that price - o.k.

I just love the desk - that colour green is one of my favourites. The door is a great shade too. What a great stash. Shame the shipping to the UK would be so much!

Oh my gosh - a few years ago I picked up a cabinet super similar to that pink and white one. My roommate and I found it on the street - it was going to be picked up on trash day. We totally fixed it up and painted it a cute cherry red. I recently moved, and sold it...boy was I sad to see it go. LOVE the door and desk, too!

I want the cabinet with the pink doors! Don't have a place anywhere inside or outside my house to put it, but why should that matter? It's wonderful!
I do so admire people who "do" colors. My eyes don't do colors well. I'm far from color blind, but can't distinguish black from dark brown and can never decide if something is aqua or turquoise.

rofl .. my husband always told me he only had the 8pk of Crayolas while I must have had the 64 pk .. I'd refer to things as Heliotrope or Orchid .. he'd ask, "Can't you just say purple??" lol
Your blog is a delight for the eyes and to read as well!
