Yesterday was an excellent yard-saling day. I bought a lot of unique things, and only spent about $20 for everything. Here's a sampling:
- Chalkboard ($.25)
- Maisons de France book ($5)
- Le John fan ($2)
- US Standard oil can ($1)
- Wooden dovetailed drawer ($2)
- Fabric in the background (2 yds for $.50)
- 12 Santa head pipe-cleaner picks ($.25)
The Maisons de France book (c 1949) is filled with photos of homes from all regions of France. There are interior and exterior photos, as well as floor plans (all in French). Most of the pictures are in black and white, but a few pages are in color. There seems to be a bit of pink in each photo.
I love the pink patio umbrella:
The pink bouquet in the distance:
Two more pink flower arrangements:
Not quite as elegant as a 1940's French dining room, here are the 12 santa heads that I bought for a quarter:
Also for a quarter (!), this Asian-style child's outfit in white cotton with embroidery:
This heavy aluminum office chair was $4. I think it was a steal. My husband thinks it is hideous. I told him that I wanted to make some kind of a slipcover for the seat, since the vinyl is ripped. Right after I took this picture, I turned it over to see how the seat was attached and it slipped out of my hand and landed on my foot. I spent the next half hour laying on the couch with a bag of frozen Trader Joe's Vegetable Medley on my foot. Ask me if I would do it all over again for this four dollar chair, and I would say yes.
At the same sale where I bought the chair, I also found these metal sign letters for a dollar. They are about an inch and a half high.
Sorry, I just couldn't resist...
I know, I know...this blog is getting too raunchy. I promise to make it up to you this week with a spectacular freshvintage giveaway. What are we celebrating in the next giveaway? You'll have to come back and see!
(No, I'm not pregnant.)

You crack me up.

Your 'raunchiness' is what keeps me coming back! Love your blog and your yard sale finds.

tag sales in the east are WAY better than out here in the SW. There is no way I could find stuff like that here for those prices!
As for the Asian clothes, They look very similar to the pajamas my Grandmother brought back for all of her grand kids from China in the early 80's. We LOVED running around in these pajamas, they were SO comfortable. I'll have to ask my mom whatever happened to them.

Can I just say that you have the best narrative I have read to date! You combine my love of thrift shopping/ yard sailing... with your own version of "Talk Soup"! Just when I thought I would never find someone with enough sarcastic humor to keep me interested, I find your great blog! Thanks (bowing to you) for keeping it real! My blog is lame compared to yours! :) Lisa

man oh man...my garage sale pickin's have been terrible this year.
It seems that every one I find is full of puzzles, high waisted old lady pants in pastel polyester, and bad 1980's home decor items!
You managed quite the finds though...I'm totally jealous! :)

Keep it raunchy! Too many of these type blogs are saccarhine—I'm on rosy pink overload! You've given me the guts to do my upcoming blog the way I really want to!
Also, "apples" is right: it's all about where you live. If I ever found ANYTHING for 25 cents, I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Love your blog! XOX

The METAL OFFICE CHAIR was a GREAT FIND, no matter what your husband thinks.
Look at the latest MARTHA STEWART magazine at the article on how she has fixed up the attic in her Bedford, Mass., house and take a look at the chairs . . .
